Gordon D. Quinn

Gordon D. Quinn, a partner of Sullivan, Hayes & Quinn, LLC, is a graduate of the University of Vermont as well as Western New England University School of Law, where he was a Notes Editor of the Law Review and awarded the West Publishing American Jurisprudence Award for academic excellence in labor law. He has been repeatedly named to The Best Lawyers in America, having been chosen best in his field of employment law by other lawyers. He was designated by best lawyers as the employment and labor litigation attorney of the year locally for 2017.

For well over two decades, Mr. Quinn has provided a wide range of professional services in the labor relations and employment law fields to numerous private and public sector organizations nationwide. Admitted to the Bar of Connecticut as well as Massachusetts, he has advised and successfully represented large and small employers, towns and school districts in employment-related legal disputes before state and federal agencies, such as the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities and the EEOC, as well as before courts. His appellate experience includes a successful argument before the Vermont Supreme Court which led to the complete dismissal of a wrongful discharge suit against a school district seeking substantial damages for a claimed violation of an employee’s First Amendment rights. He has negotiated collective bargaining agreements and has obtained numerous successful outcomes for clients in grievance and labor arbitration matters.

His expertise in the labor and employment field includes organizing and leading numerous training workshops for employees covering such diverse topics as sexual harassment prevention, avoiding liability for wrongful discharge and discrimination, and implementing attendance control policies in accordance with state and federal handicap and leave laws such as the FMLA. A graduate of the MCAD’s certified program for workplace trainers and investigators of workplace discrimination issues, he has represented employers in connection with government compliance investigations and has enabled clients to achieve effective, cost-effective results in such matters.

Mr. Quinn has taught personnel law and labor relations at a number of area colleges and has spoken before employer groups throughout Massachusetts and New York on wage and hour laws, drafting of personnel-related documents and effectively handling government compliance investigations. 

Outside of his practice, Mr. Quinn also volunteers his time to area nonprofit organizations  He currently serves as President of the Children’s Study Home Board of Directors and serves on the Board of the Springfield (MA) Public Forum.
